John W. Ebert
John William Ebert, 90, of Basehor KS, passed away on Wed., Dec. 5, 2012 at Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, KS. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am, Mon., Dec. 10, at the Risen Savior Lutheran Church, 14700 Leavenworth Rd. Basehor, KS with cremation to follow. Visitation 10 to 11 am, Mon., Dec. 10, prior to the service at the church.
John was born on Oct. 24, 1922 in Dallas, TX. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp. in WWII where he served as a fighter pilot. On his return from the military he attended the University of Texas graduating with a degree in Chemical engineering. Later he worked for Phillips Petroleum as a Chemical Engineer for over 30 years retiring in 1985. He moved to the Kansas City area in 1958 and later married Earlene Penrose in 1963 and then moved to Basehor. He enjoyed his hobby of collecting gems and minerals and was active in several “Rock Clubs”. He was a past Basehor City Councilman and past member of the Basehor Lions Club. He was proud to have won the contest and named the Basehor Sentinel Newspaper in 1968.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years Earlene Ebert of the home and 1 daughter Dr. Elizabeth Myers and her husband Dr. Carl Myers of Allen Park, Mich.
Family suggests memorial contributions to the American Lung Assoc. or the Church in care of the funeral home.
