Pat (Prater) O'Brien age 74 of Basehor, Kansas passed away on Tuesday March 5, 2013. Memorial Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday March 9, 2013 at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service also at the funeral home. Private burial will be at a later date in the Glenwood Cemetery. Memorial Contributions can be made tot he Southern Care Hospice in care of the funeral home.

Pat was born on April 3, 1938 the second of five children born to John and Irene Prater in Tarkio, Missouri. Pat grew up in the Argentine area until her Junior year of High School when she moved with her family to the Basehor area. She lived for sometime in Saudi Arabia with her family. Pat had volunteered at the Basehor Community Library. She was proud that she raised two children as a single mother. Pat was preceded in death by her parents, her son Brad O'Brien and one nephew Kevin Swope. Survivors include her daughter Becky Jo Voyles, two brothers Jack Prater (Delores) of Sweet Springs, MO., Dick Prater (Carol) of Linwood, KS., two sisters Becky Knoche (Gale) and Judy Bettis both of Basehor, KS., three grandchildren Samara, Michael and piper as well as other extended family and friends. She will be greatly missed by her entire family.
