DUANE L. NEU

Duane Lee Neu, age 49, of Basehor, Kansas passed away on Thursday, Oct. 2, 2014 at the KU Medical Center. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 7, at the Hope Lutheran Church (6308 Quivira Rd. Shawnee, KS. 66216) with burial to follow in the Glenwood Cemetery near Basehor, KS. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday evening, at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home (214 Oak St. Bonner Springs, KS. 66012) Memorial Contributions can be made to the Basehor Historical Society in care of the funeral home.

Duane was born on December 30th, 1964 in Lawrence, Kansas and had been a lifelong area resident living in the same house he grew up in. He graduated from Basehor High School in 1984 and also Kansas City Kansas Community College. He was a co-owner of Heartland Plumbing and Heating, as well as Heartland Enterprises in Basehor, KS. where he had worked for over 30 years. Duane was a Master Plumber and Master Mechanical and HVAC Specialist. He was an avid sports fan, loving college sports, especially K-State Football and Auto Racing. He also liked watching and caring for birds around the farm. Duane liked to travel, driving by car exploring the country. He had a wonderful sense of humor and an infectious smile. Duane was preceded in death by his parents Wes and Gloria Neu in 2012 and 2002 respectively and one half-sister Arlene M. Bliss in 1954. Survivors include his four brothers Greg Neu of El Dorado Springs, MO, Kelly Neu of Tabernash, CO., Rick Neu of Houston, TX., and Doug Neu of Basehor, KS. as well as many nieces and nephews that will miss him greatly.
