Janet Gale Oest, 72, of Bonner Springs, KS passed away on Friday, Sept. 4, 2015 at Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, KS. Funeral services will be at 10 am, Wed. Sept. 9, at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home in Bonner Springs, KS with burial to follow in the Bonner Springs Cemetery. Friends may call at the visitation from 6 to 8 pm, Tue., Sept. 8, at the funeral home.
Janet was born on August 24, 1943 in Clifton, NJ and moved to this area just over 40 years ago. Janet had previously worked as an X-Ray Technician and a nurse’s assistant. She had also especially enjoyed working in a daycare nursery helping children with special needs. When Janet had the time she loved to read books about the military and suspense novels. Janet is preceded in death by one daughter Vahlea Oest in 2010 and one grandson Dalton Luttrell in 2003. She is survived by her husband of 49 years Fred Oest of the home and four daughters Donna Oest of the home; Dawn Calderwood (Ernie) of Baldwin City, KS; Robin Steinbacher (Joe) of Bonner Springs, KS and Diana Oest of Bonner Springs, KS. One sister Maryann Levine of Clifton, NJ. Ten grandchildren Courtney, Jesse, Elizabeth, Lance Corporal Anthony, Ryan, Steven, Kristina, Jada, Nicholas and Marissa. And three great grandchildren Ethan, Gagae and Peyten.
