Obituary for Ralph E. "Cotton" Trent

Ralph E. Trent, better known as Cotton, 93, of Kansas City, KS passed away Tue., Jan. 10th at St. Luke's Hospice House in Kansas City, MO. Visitation is at 10 a.m., funeral at 11, on Tue., Jan. 17 at Alden-Harrington Funeral Home in Bonner Springs, KS. Burial will follow in the Chapel Hills Memorial Garden Cemetery in Kansas City, KS. Cotton was born on March 29, 1923 in Bonner Springs, KS and was a lifelong area resident. He served his country with the U.S. Army deploying to the Philippines during WWII. He was an owner/operator of Superior Sand & Gravel Co. on the Kansas River in Muncie for over 35 years. He loved to hunt and fish and was a true outdoorsman. He was never happier than when surrounded by family and friends. His humble generosity will remain an enduring example to all who knew him. His keen sense of humor and sharp wit will bring laughter for many more years. He was preceded in death by a son, Monte Holman, in 1989. He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Doris, of the home. Two children, Rex Trent of Piper, KS and Brenda Stafford of Overland Park, KS. Four grandchildren, Nate Stafford, Mallory Vandenberg (Chad), Ashley Trent, Christina Droge. Five great grandchildren, Adaline, Reece, Dillon, Bonnie and Trent. Memorial tributes may be directed to Wyandotte United Methodist Church in Kansas City, Kansas.
