Obituary for Fredia Ree Smith

Fredia Ree  Smith
Fredia Ree Smith, Basehor, KS, was born March 1, 1937 in Berryville, Arkansas and passed away peacefully in her home, Thursday afternoon, March 9, 2017, surrounded by her family, after a lengthy battle with lung cancer.
On December 31, 1957, Fredia married her high school sweetheart, Lawrence Smith, in Jasper, Arkansas. She attended Northern Arkansas College in Harrison, AR. before moving to Kansas City, Kansas in 1958. The family then moved to Basehor, KS in December, 1976.
Fredia was known as a mother who loved her children and grandchildren fiercely as well as being a devoted fan of KU Jayhawk basketball. She will be missed dearly by her "crew" as she so fondly referred to her kids, Chris, Phil and LaRee.
She owned and operated the Farm Market in Piper, KS until 1999.
Preceded in death by her parents, John Franklin Landrum and Cleta Myrtle Landrum and her loving husband, Lawrence Smith, brothers Charles Landrum, Kent Landrum, Bill Landrum and a sister, Bernice Villines, all of Harrison, AR and Larry Keneth Landrum who died shortly after birth. Fredia is survived by her sons Chris Smith (Janet) of Kansas City, MO, Phil Smith (Margaret) of Basehor, KS and her daughter, LaRee Christiansen (Mike) of Fontana, KS, six grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren and her brother, George Landrum, (Lois Cheryl) of Rogers, Arkansas. Private services at a later date.
