Nola Sharon Zarate of Bonner Springs, KS was born March 29, 1960 in Kansas City, KS to Irene Starks and John Starks, Sr. Nola entered eternal rest surrounded by her family on Sunday, March 19 at The University of Kansas Hospital at the age of 56.
Nola was preceded in death by her father John Starks, Sr. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, George Zarate and their 3 daughters and their families: Kim Robbins-husband Michael and their children, Carson and Avery; Andrea Elmer-husband George and their children, Jaxson and Audrina; and Lisa Zarate-significant other Christopher Hallgren. In addition to her immediate family, Nola is survived by her mother Irene and siblings, John Starks, Jr. and wife Joyce, Robert Starks and wife Teresa, Christine Reyes and husband Lou, Gail Sanders and husband Glen, Michael Starks and wife Kristy. Nola retired from Myron’s Dental Lab in 2010 after 20+ years of service to help raise her grandchildren, who were undoubtedly the light of her life.
Visitation will be from 5-8pm on Thursday, March 23 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 5501 Monticello Road, Shawnee, KS, where the rosary will be prayed at 8:00pm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30am Friday, March 24 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 5501 Monticello Road, Shawnee, KS, with the burial immediately following at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 126th & Parallel Pkwy, Kansas City, KS.
