Obituary for Ray Zimmerli

Ray  Zimmerli
Ray Zimmerli, age 86 of Linwood, Kansas passed away on Friday June 9, 2017 at the home. Visitation 9:30-11am, Funeral Service 11am, both Tuesday, June 13th at the Linwood United Methodist Church, with burial to follow in the Mt. Sidney Cemetery. Memorial Contributions can be made to the Linwood United Methodist Church or the Great Lakes Caring Home Health and Hospice.
Ray was born on Oct. 1, 1930 in Goff, KS. He had worked for the Frey family for over 35 years, both on their farm, and at their Ford Dealership, in Bonner Springs. After his retirement Ray worked at the Linwood Café, mowed yards and helped people with various projects in Linwood. Ray was the oldest living resident, and was affectionately known as “Papa Ray” and the “King of Linwood”. In 2003, he was the recipient of the Ovid Snider Award, for his Outstanding Citizenship, in the town of Linwood. Ray was preceded in death by his parents; Louis and Dorothy Zimmerli. Survivors include; his brother Karl Zimmerli of Meriden, KS., niece Leanna Kneebone of Tonganoxie, KS., nephew Louis Zimmerli of Bozeman, MT., as well as his caregiver and friend, Lianne Abare of the home. Ray will be deeply missed by all that knew him.
