Obituary for Fred H. Stitt

Fred H.  Stitt
Fred H. Stitt, 75, of Basehor, KS passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2017 at the University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, KS. Friends and family may call at the Visitation from 6 to 8 pm, Thur., July 6, and from 9:30 to 10:30 am, Fri., July 7, and the Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 am, Fri., July 7, all at the St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 900 Ida St., Lansing, KS 66043. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Church or to the National Agricultural Center and Hall of Fame for the Train Depot in care of the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home. Fred was born April 13, 1942 in Kansas City, KS and was a life long area resident. He graduated from Washington High school in Kansas City, KS in 1960 and served in the U.S. Army reserves. He had enjoyed a 55 year long career in Heavy Equipment. And had worked for Pace-Euclid Inc., Funkhouser Machinery Co., C.M.I., Conmaco Inc., and had recently retired as the Equipment Mgr. for Damon Pursell Const. Co. He was a member of the Antique Caterpillar Machinery Owners Club where he was a past President of Chapter #1, Historical Construction Equipment Association and the American Truck Historical Society. He had also volunteered with the National Agricultural Hall of Fame board of Governors, the Fairmount Township Fire Dept. and was elected to the Fairmount Township Board. He is survived by his wife of 49 years Gerry of the home. Two sons Rick Stitt and Loren Stitt both of Leavenworth, KS. One sister Marilyn Merrick (Ray) and one brother Ron Stitt (Karla) all of Kansas City, KS.
