Obituary for Carmen Inez Harte

Carmen Inez Harte
Carmen Inez Harte, age 78, of Stuart, Florida, previously of Forest City, PA. passed away on Saturday, Aug. 5, 2017, surrounded by her children.

Carmen was born on Feb. 1, 1939 in Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands and as a young adult she traveled to New Jersey to study nursing. She had worked as a Registered Nurse at Carbondale Regional hospital, as well as a substitute school nurse within the Forest City Regional School district. Carmen was a widowed mother who provided for her family, helped others, and found her ultimate joy in her six grandchildren. Those who knew her well would say that she was quiet and reserved and took great pride in the successes of her children and grandchildren. Born in the Islands, Carmen loved the warm weather and for many years, she divided her time between Florida and the homes of her children. Carmen was a woman who possessed a strong faith in God and prayed for all those that she loved.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ronald Kenneth Harte, and her parents, Jose and Marina Torres. She is survived by her three children; Glenn Harte and wife Lory of Basehor, KS, Brian Harte and wife Rose of Norwood, NY, and Karen Schito and husband Sal of Louisville, TN. In addition, she is survived by her grandchildren who adored her and affectionately called her NeeNee and Grammy; AJ, Sal, and Gabe Schito; and Gareth, Gavin, and Grayson Harte. In addition, she is survived by her sister, Norma Maldonado, Indiantown, FL and brother, Roberto Torres, Miami, FL.
The family is forever grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support in many heart-felt forms. Her children continue to find peace that their mom is no longer in pain and are confident that the Lord gave her the prettiest pair of angel wings to watch over her children and grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2017, at 10 am at the Church of St. James, St. Katharine Drexel Parish, in Pleasant Mount, PA. Family and friends are welcome to greet the family beginning at 9 am at the church. In lieu of flowers, her children have asked that donations be made in her name to the American Diabetes Association.
