Obituary for Gerard Charles "Gerry" LeCluyse

Gerard Charles "Gerry" LeCluyse
GERRY LECLUYSE
Gerard “Gerry” C. LeCluyse, 60, of Kansas City, KS., was found dead at his home on Friday, October 27th , 2017. Visitation will be from 2-3 pm and Memorial services will be at 3 pm on Sunday, Nov. 5th, at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home in Bonner Springs, KS; cremation with burial in Lenape Cemetery, rural Bonner Springs. Family and friends are invited after the burial to gather at the funeral home’s reception hall, for food, drinks and stories about Gerry. The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness), or the Bishop Sullivan Center.
Gerry was born on September 5th, 1957, in Kansas City, Missouri. Being born two months premature was the first of many challenges Gerry would face in his life. But the courage with which he faced and endured them was an inspiration to many. Gerry had remarkable common sense and wisdom, and these were the gifts of the battles he had to fight. He was a tender-hearted and good person – despite his loud “bark” – who had a tough life from the start. Occasionally, if you paid close attention, he revealed his wry sense of humor. Gerry had a lot to overcome, however, and this heavy load became too much for him in the end.
Gerry was a graduate of De La Salle High School, and worked a variety of service jobs, such as a lumber mill, cleaning service, and commercial painting. He also worked at the Old Spaghetti Factory, and recently retired from Walmart in Bonner Springs, where he worked for more than ten years. Gerry married his wife Phyllis in 1989, and was father and grandfather to her two daughters and their children. Phyllis preceded him in death in 2011.
Survivors include two stepdaughters, Crecinda (Aaron) Houk, Kansas City, Kan., and Stephanie Haggett, McClouth, Kan.; his parents, Edward Sr. and Anne LeCluyse, Leawood; three sisters: Chris (Chuck) Frank, West Bloomfield, Mich., Pat (Terry) Bisbee, Littleton, Colo., and Amy (Jeff) Latz, Kearney, Mo.; two brothers: Ed (Jean) LeCluyse Jr., Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and Jim (Mary Beth) LeCluyse, Kansas City; step-grandchildren: Seria, EJ, Christian, Chaylin, and Bryant; and a step-great-grandson, Carter.
