Mary Ann  Hofstra
Mary Ann Hofstra, age 100, of Enumclaw, WA. Passed away Nov. 25, 2017 in Enumclaw. Visitation Noon-1pm, Funeral 1pm, both Friday, Dec. 8th at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home, with burial to follow in the Mt. Muncie Cemetery, Lansing, KS.

Mary Ann (Fornalski) Hofstra was born on March 9, 1917 in Palmer, Washington the second of seven children on the family farm adjacent to the Green River. She was a 1936 graduate of Enumclaw High School. Mary Ann worked for Boeing Aircraft during WW II as a runner. She met Harold Hofstra of Leavenworth, KS, who was a welder for the Navy Dept. at the US Naval Shipyard in Bremerton, WA. in 1944. They were married in Seattle, on Flag Day, June 14th, 1945. At the end of the war, they moved back to Kansas and located in Maywood, Wyandotte County, then moved to Bonner Springs where they lived from 1951 to 1964 and eventually Shawnee, KS before retiring to Enumclaw, WA. Mary had worked as a bookkeeper for Kay Jewelers in Kansas City, KS. and for many years at Renner Door Company in Kansas City, MO.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Zygmunt and Johanna (Sebasta) Fornalski, her husband, Harold Hofstra in 1995, on the date of their 50th Wedding Anniversary, Sons Gary Albert Hoefer and Terrence Douglas Hofstra and Grandson Bradley Keith Hofstra, four Brothers and one Sister.

Survivors include her son Gordon Hofstra and wife Shirley of Leawood KS, Sister Ann Haggardt of Palo Alto, CA , Daughter-In-Law Marilyn Hofstra of Arcata, CA. 5 Grandchildren-- Cheryl Lynne Fortenberry (and husband Troy) of Greenwood, TX, Krista Paige Sands of Kings Mountain, NC, Travis Gordon Hofstra (and wife Robin) of Spring, TX, Krystyna Suzanne Hofstra of Norman, OK, Amanda Gayle Hofstra of San Francisco, CA, Great Grandsons Charlie Dugan Fortenberry, Braden Wayne Hofstra, Great Granddaughter Anna Gabriella Fortenberry and numerous Nieces and Nephews.
