Obituary for Thomas Jefferson "Tom" Tinsley Jr.

Thomas Jefferson Tinsley, Jr (Tom). age 89, of Bonner Springs, Kansas passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2018 after a lengthy illness. Visitation will be Noon to 1pm, with Funeral services at 1pm Saturday, January 13th, both at the Bonner Springs Church of Christ, burial to follow in the Bonner Springs Cemetery. Tom was preceded in death by his parents Tom and Stella Tinsley, His three sisters Virgina Prock, Phaye Parker and Vivian Collier and his brother Robert (Bob) Tinsley. He is survived by his loving wife and Best Friend of 65 years, Jean Snyder Tinsley, his daughter, Kay Tinsley, his son, TJ Tinsley, daughter-in-law, Terri Tinsley, granddaughters and grandsons-in-law; Meghen and Donnie Jones, Caitlin and Justin Crossman, Morgan and Brad Roush, great-granddaughters; Madilynn and Eleanor Jones, and numerous nieces and nephews, grand and great. He was beloved by all.
Tom was born December 3, 1928 in Oklahoma City, OK, the 4th of 5 children born to Tom and Stella Tinsley. He was a graduate of Green Forest High School, in Green Forest, AR, Class of 1947. Tom spent his working years as a carpenter and construction superintendent of both commercial and heavy construction. He was a longtime resident of Bonner Springs, KS and a founding member of the Bonner Springs Church of Christ. Tom was dedicated to service in his church and community. He served in a leadership position for the church and as a volunteer both for the church and his community; including 19 years as a volunteer EMT with the Bonner Springs Ambulance Service, president of the Bonner Springs PTA, serving on the Board of Directors for Tallgrass Christian Camp including providing his expertise during its construction, and serving individuals receiving home hospice care.
An avid upland bird hunter, Tom loved working with and training pointing dogs of various breeds. He was also a lifetime and founding member of the Tri-County Rod & Gun Club.
Tom was most passionate about his faith and family. His wish for everyone would be a faithful relationship with Christ.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bonner Springs Church of Christ or Tallgrass Christian Camp.
