ROBERT O. WATCHOUS
Robert "Bob" Owen Watchous, 88, of DeSoto, KS passed away Monday, Jan.15, 2018 at Olathe Medical Center. Visitation from 6 to 8 pm, on Thursday, Jan. 18, and Funeral at 10 am, Saturday, Jan. 20, both at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home in Bonner Springs, KS. With burial to follow in the DeSoto Silent City Cemetery in DeSoto, KS. Bob was born on Sept. 17, 1929 in Matfield Green, KS and graduated from High School in 1947 in Perryton, TX where he played football on the High School team. He later attended West Texas State where he received both his Bachelors and his Masters Degrees. He later received his Juris Doctorate in Law from the University of Kansas. Bob was proud to be a Teacher, Lawyer and Rancher. He taught High School at both Shawnee Mission South and West teaching Science, Government and Law for many years. He practiced Family Law as a Lawyer at Associates in Family Law in Olathe, KS. And as a Rancher he was proud to be a Third generation Rancher following in his Father and Grandfathers footsteps at one time having hundreds of head of cattle mostly Herefords in Kansas and Oklahoma. He was a member of the Elm Grove Baptist Church and had been an active member of the Kansas Bar Association. Bob is survived buy his wife of 64 years Joy Watchous of the home and two children Pam Davis (Chuck) of DeSoto, KS and Stanley R. Watchous, II (Carol) of Gardner, KS. One sister Anna Sue Dean of Sacramento, CA. Seven grandchildren David, Katie, Becky, Christina, Daniel, Amy and Zach. And seven great grandchildren on the hoof and two on the way.
