Russell Joe  Mantooth
Russell J. Mantooth, 69, of Edwardsville, KS passed away on Monday, March 12, 2018 at Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, KS. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 pm, Saturday and the Memorial Service will be at 4 pm, Saturday, March 17, at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home in Bonner Springs, KS with family burial to follow later in the Glenwood Cemetery in Basehor, KS. The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association in care of the funeral home. Russell was born on Feb. 11, 1949 in Independence, KS and has been a long time area resident. He graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1967 and then served in the U.S. Navy. More recently he retired from B.P.U. in K.C., KS where he worked for many years in the Water Department.. He loved fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed his trips to Branson and was an avid sports fan dedicated to the Chiefs, Royals and K.U. He was preceded in death by one grandson K.C. Alexander Joe Gillespie on March 11, 2018. And is survived by his wife of 48 years Kathryn of the home two daughters Michelle Gillespie of Edwradsville, KS and Trishia Duarte-Martinez (Napoleon) of Edwardsville, KS. One sister Claudia Smith of Basehor, KS. Seven grandchildren Valencia, Danielle, Marissa, Salina, Mariah, Quentin and Parker. And four great grandchildren Kali, Travis, Camden and Leah.
