Obituary for Ola E. Howerton

Ola E.  Howerton
Ola Eleanor Howerton, age 78, a lifelong resident of Edwardsville, Kansas passed away on Thursday, March 29, 2018. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 4th at the Edwardsville Christian Church, with burial to follow in the Edwardsville Cemetery. The family will receive friends at a visitation from 10-11am prior to the service also at the church. Memorial Contributions can be made to the church.

Ola was born on Jan. 24, 1940 in Kansas City, Kansas the youngest of two daughters born to Ole & Helen (Dietrick) Anderson. Ola grew up in Edwardsville and graduated from Edwardsville High School. She has been a lifelong member and very active in the Edwardsville Christian Church, and even met Ed Howerton at Church, who was attending church there with his brother. Ola and Ed were married in June of 1958 at the Church. Ola and Ed worked side by side in just about everything they did, including their Upholstery Business, Volunteering on the Edwardsville Cemetery Board, where Ola was the Secretary and Record Keeper and Ed was the Caretaker. Ola was also a longtime secretary at the Edwardsville Christian Church, was active in the Christian Women’s Connection, helped with Sunday School, led the Choir on Sundays. Besides having a beautiful signing voice, she also was very artistic, and enjoyed painting, crocheting, and all kinds of crafts. Ola’s life’s work and primary responsibly was being an “Unbelievable devoted, Wife and Mother”, working side by side with Ed and taking care of her children.
Ola was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ed L. Howerton in 2016 and by her sister Marian Schubert in 2017.
Survivors include her children; Jeffrey and Michelle Howerton, of the home, a very close Sister-in-law; Lois Cook of Hot Springs, AR., numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and close friends.
