Michelle Denise Benson Collins
Michelle D. Collins, 65 of Bonner Springs, KS went home to be with the Lord on Tues. April 10, 2018. Michelle was born on June 26, 1952 in Great Falls, Montana.

Michelle was born to a US Air Force family and moved around a lot during her upbringing. She lived in Montana, California, and Newfoundland, Canada before her family settled into the Delaware-New Jersey area. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Delaware State and taught keyboarding classes for a while after college. Her son Matthew was born in 1979 and after a few years of living on the east coast, they moved to Bonner Springs, KS where she made her home for 34 years. She was a longtime member of the Eagles Club of Bonner Springs and the Moose Lodge of Kansas City, KS. She worked at Swingster for many years where she met some of her closest friends and Quest Diagnostics before she retired. Michelle met Skip Collins in 2002 and the two have spent the past 15 years together. They wed in June of 2017. Michelle loved crafting. She enjoyed making scrapbooks and creating cards for her family and friends. Most of all, Michelle loved being “Memaw” to her grandchildren. She was a sweet woman with a wonderful heart and she will be missed dearly.

She is preceded in death by her father and mother George H. and Margaret Smith of Wilmington, DE.
She is survived by her husband Skip Collins of the home; son Matthew (Vann) Benson and grandson Gabriel of Olathe, KS; stepsons Matt (April) Collins and Chip (Dakota) Collins of Leavenworth, KS, and the many bonus grandchildren she shared with Skip; siblings Robert, Michael and Irene.

A Memorial Gathering will be at 2pm Sunday April 15, 2018 at the Moose Lodge (6621 Turner Dr. Kansas City, KS 64111). Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
