Actively involved with my family, church and community.

I get the most enjoyment from spending time with my family, whether it’s at the lake or taking advantage of the many great places to eat and be entertained in and around Kansas City. My family and I are members of the Bonner Springs United Methodist Church where I find it very rewarding to be a part of the leadership team. My community involvement is my main focal point at this time. Currently I am serving as a City Councilman, a position I have held since 2001.

Spending time with my family, my two sons Jarred and Connor and my wife Marcia keeps me quite busy. It seems that we are always getting involved in some kind of fun and exciting local activities. One of those is the local city band concerts each summer where I help out as a master of ceremonies, which is always good for a laugh.

Throughout the years I have been a member of the BSUMC and am currently a member of the Staff and Parish Relations Committee, a position that I enjoy because of its involvement with such a wide range of individuals throughout the entire congregation.

Being a lifelong Bonner Springs resident, and having graduated from Bonner Springs High School in 1979 our community has become quite important to me and I am committed to its continued success. After graduating from the University of Kansas in 1984, and from Kansas City Kansas Community College in 1987, I was able to land a position as a funeral director and embalmer here at our family business, the fourth generation of my family to do so. Shortly thereafter, in 1989, I got involved with local government and volunteered for the Planning and Zoning Commission where I was a member for 12 years. Since 2001 I have served as a City Councilman for Ward Four in Bonner Springs and have enjoyed my community involvement working to protect and plan for my hometown.

Always on the GO!! As a Husband and Dad!!

I graduated from Bonner Springs High School in 1991, and went straight on to Mortuary School. After getting my degree, I went to work here at our family’s Funeral Home, that my Great-Grandfather started in 1908. In 1999, I met Carrie Dixon, and we were married in 2001. In 2002, we had our daughter Stella, and also moved to Basehor, KS., where we still reside. In 2005, our son Lake was born. Then, in 2010 we had our third child Sadie Jo. So, between kids and work, I keep pretty busy and it seems I always have something "going on".....

During the summers in College I worked at Kelly's Port Marina at the Lake of the Ozarks where I developed my passion for boats. In 98, 99 & 00, I raced for Mike Gordon’s (ONE VISION) Offshore race team as his throttleman. Then in 2006, I purchased my own race boat, and teamed up with Lake Shores Marina, we went on to win the APBA, SBI and UIM - World Championships, in Key West, FL. In 2007, I won the POPRA US National Championship. Now, I mostly focus on the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout where I have won my class the last 13 years!

My Mother, Connie Harrington, and I started Harrington Floral in 1987. My husband, Scott Summers and I run it now.  Yes, I work with my husband, two brothers and my father, I wear many hats here at the Flower Shop, Funeral Home and the Event Center.  I love family, friends, being a Wife, Mom and Grandma, old cars, dogs and bonfires.
