Obituary for Michael Patrick Farley

Michael “Mike” Patrick Farley, age 36, of Merriam, KS. and previously of Phoenix, AZ. passed away on Monday, Feb. 6th, 2017 after a long illness. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 10:30 am Sat., Feb. 11th at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Shawnee, KS. with burial to follow in the Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Lenexa, KS. The family will receive friends at a visitation Fri., Feb. 10th also at the church, from 5 to 7:30pm, with a Rosary Service beginning at 7:30pm. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to Catholic Charities of North East Kansas, The Lupus Foundation or the Great Plains SPCA, all in care of the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home.

Mike was born on May 2, 1980 in Omaha, NE. and was the younger of two children born to Mark & Kay (Rauth) Farley. He grew up in Phoenix, AZ. graduating from Brophy College Prep High School in 1998. Mike attended St. Louis University, spending one semester in Spain and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Supply Chain Management from Arizona State University. Most recently he worked for Carter-Waters Construction Materials Company in Kansas City, MO. Mike’s passion was martial arts and personal fitness. He was proud to attain the rank of 3rd Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do. Mike lived by the creed of The Jesuits: being a “ Man For Others” , always willing to help those in need. He was a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents; John and Elizabeth Rauth, paternal grandfather Francis C. Farley and uncle Patrick Farley. Survivors include his parents Mark & Kay Farley, one sister Megan Farley and paternal grandmother Margaret Farley all of Shawnee, KS. Three nieces; Genevieve, Katie and Mariah. Aunts and Uncles; Mary Reid, Joyce (Mike) Fears, Eileen (Wayne) Strider, Patty (Chuck) Hayes, Mike (Mary) Rauth, Jeanne (Jim) Sheehan, Reine (John) Seiler and numerous cousins, as well as a group of close friends that he loved very much, and his trusted companion, his dog “Maggie”.
