JEANETTE M. RICE
Jeanette M. Rice, 78, of Piper, KS passed away Thur. Nov. 9, 2017 at the Heritage of Overland Park Nursing Home. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm, Mon., Nov. 13, and the Funeral service will be at 10 am, Tue., Nov. 14, both at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home in Bonner Springs, KS with entombment to follow in Sunset Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Leavenworth, KS. Jeanette was born on Jan. 14, 1939 in Leavenworth, KS and had graduated from Piper High School in 1957, she had lived and raised her family in the Piper area all of her life. She was a wonderful cook and she also loved to garden and watch and care for birds especially humming birds, Red Tail Hawks and Cardinals. She was a big fan of Johnnie Cash, loving his music. She was also a long time member and had attended the Wolcott Baptist Church for many years. Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years Jack C. Rice in 2014 and is survived by her three children David Rice and his wife Karen of Overland Park, KS; Michael Rice and his wife Trish of Tomball, TX and Judi Rice of Shawnee, KS. One brother John McMahon, III of Kansas City, KS and one sister Elaine Hatzenbuhler of Morehead, MN. Four grandchildren Steven, Tim, Danielle and Matthew and two great grandchildren Alaina Jeanette and John David.
