Obituary for James Alan Anderson

James Alan  Anderson
James Alan Anderson, 69, of Springfield, MO passed away on Thurs., Feb. 11, 2016 at his home. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 am, and Funeral service will be at 11 am, on Wed., Feb. 17, at the Alden – Harrington Funeral Home in Bonner Springs, KS with burial to follow with military honors at the Leavenworth Veteran’s Administration National Cemetery in Leavenworth, KS. James was born on Dec. 13, 1946 in Slayton, MN. He married Susan Fulks Anderson. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 10 years and then worked as a Senior Officer for 20 years at Federal Prisons both in Leavenworth and in Springfield from where he retired. He was a member of the VFW and had also worked at the Wichita Fire Department. He was preceded in death by his parents Alan A. Anderson and Betty McMahon and sisters Sherry Diane Heath and Jackie Marie Drake. And he is survived by his wife Susan K. Anderson of the home. Five sisters Brenda Wilson of Branson West, MO; Kristi Dusenbery of Wichita, KS; Debra Webb, Jody Hernandez (Rudy) and Tammy Robbins all of Arkansas City, KS. Children by marriage Thomas Blankenship of Springfield, MO; Tracey Blankenship of Olathe, KS; Sonja Blankenship of Leavenworth, KS; and Scott Steele of Edwardsville, KS. Four grandchildren. Brothers and sisters in law Phillip and Nancy Fulks; Steven Fulks; Linda and John Wright, and Karen Theno. And his beloved dog Felix.
