Jim and I played together at Grandpa Anderson's in Avoca. We usually got in trouble doing things we shouldn't. One incident that I will never forget occured when we decided to find out what makes a shotgun shell explode. Jim hit the 12 ga shell with a hammer when it was lying on the cement floor of grandpa's garage. It exploded sending a paper wad into Jim's rear end and spraying my arm with pellets. We both took a trip to the emergency room in Slayton. Fortunately we were not seriously injured. Thank you for your service to this country, Jim. I pray that you are in the arms of our creator and Lord.
